PASTOR RAY BERRYHILL
Pastor Ray Berryhill has served as the Senior Pastor of Evangel World Outreach Center since December 1992.
God has truly blessed this ministry to grow in numbers, assets, finances and new ministries. What began as a German mission is today a thriving urban, multi-cultural church representing more than 40 nationalities of the world, committed to "passionately making disciples of all nations." Evangel has grown from less than 100 to more than 1100.
Today, under Pastor Ray's leadership, Evangel World Outreach Center is more than the average local church. Evangel is also home to Chicago Christian Academy, a daycare and elementary school (PreK-8th) with a growing enrollment of approximately 200 students, and the Evangel School of Ministry which has successfully prepared hundreds for the work of Christian service.
Evangel is committed to Economic Empowerment with a work force of more than 50 employees. Evangel is committed to Community Development. Since 1995, the church has been acquiring property. Today it owns over 24 parcels in the community, comprised of residential and commercial properties which consist of rental apartments, businesses and a corner strip mall.
Evangel is also committed to Community Outreach. In addition to several other successful outreaches, Evangel has sponsored the Convoy of Hope four times in Chicago, feeding more than 20,000 hungry people and leading more than 6,000 souls to saving faith through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During the past decade of Pastor Ray's ministry more than 15,000 people have accepted Jesus as Lord.
Pastor Ray has the true heart of a Pastor. He is called upon nationally and internationally to prepare believers for the work of the ministry, and to minister salvation, healing and deliverance through the spoken word and through the power of the Holy Spirit. He has ministered God's Word to tens of thousands throughout the United States, and in Asia, Africa and Europe.
He serves on numerous Sectional, State and National Boards and committees for the Assemblies of God Fellowship. In 2005, Pastor Ray was elected to represent the Illinois District at the national level as a General Presbyter for the General Council of the Assemblies of God. The General Presbytery is the official policy-making body of the Assemblies of God. He is the first African-American ever to be elected to this position by the Illinois District.
Pastor Ray Berryhill and his wife, Adrienne, live in Chicago, Illinois and are the proud parents to seven children and six grandchildren.
